About Riseline Foundation

Advancing community-scale carbon removal.

Riseline Foundation advances durable, science-backed carbon dioxide removal through research, education, and community-scale projects — building the coalition infrastructure that makes local climate solutions measurable, credible, and financeable.

Our Mission

Mission

Riseline Foundation advances durable, science-backed carbon dioxide removal through research, education, and community-scale projects. We build partnerships, measurement systems, and financing models that make distributed projects measurable, practical, creditable, and financeable — so climate solutions take root locally and scale regionally.

Our first priority is to maximize the environmental and community benefits of wildfire mitigation work through credible carbon market participation.

Our Vision

Vision

A future where pile burning is the exception, not the norm — and communities can fund wildfire mitigation and restoration through credible climate finance.

Theory of Change
By making biochar production easier to adopt, measure, and finance, Riseline helps communities shift wildfire fuels work away from pile burning and toward durable carbon removal — reducing greenhouse gases, smoke, and PM2.5 while expanding local participation over time.

Our Guiding Principles

1
Keep Environmental & Economic Value Local
2
Rigorous Science
3
Community Land Stewardship & Practical On-the-Ground Solutions
4
Continuous Learning & Transparency
5
Improve Air Quality & Reduce Greenhouse Gases
6
Expand Access To Credible Carbon Removal
Why This Matters

We need solutions today.

Because wildfire mitigation and carbon removal can't wait.

Today's carbon markets are difficult for small, community-scale projects to access. They tend to reward larger operators with the resources to manage measurement, documentation, and buyer requirements. For distributed biochar projects, the bottleneck is often coordination infrastructure, not scientific feasibility.

For forestry professionals and land managers who already rely on pile burning, biochar offers an immediate pathway to shift fuels work from net carbon-emitting to potential net carbon removal — without fundamentally changing restoration goals or land management needs. Riseline provides the resources, training, shared infrastructure, scientific monitoring, and market-access pathways that support that transition.

Riseline aggregates many small, place-based projects into a single portfolio, making them easier to measure, document, and prepare for crediting under emerging MRV standards. This coalition model creates a pathway for rural, mountain, and Tribal communities to participate in durable carbon removal while also supporting wildfire risk reduction, soil health, watershed resilience, and local job creation.

Riseline Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. We operate with financial transparency and use charitable support to advance research, education, shared infrastructure, and early project implementation.
